Obituary:  Shirley Jean Hood

 

Mrs. Shirley Jean Hood, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, of Daleville, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at her residence after a brief battle with cancer. She was 67.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Enterprise with Reverend Phil Cooley officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadowlawn cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 until 8pm.

Mrs. Hood was born December 8, 1948 in Mobile, AL to the late Lawrence and Tennie Lou Sandy Balentine. In addition to her parents, one son, Ronald “Ronnie” Hood Jr.; 3 sisters: Janie Edwards, Betty Harris, Glenn Brewer; 2 brothers, Bobby Balentine, Billy Balentine all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Clark Hood Sr., Daleville, AL; two daughters, Lisa Marie Cheatwood, Dothan, AL, Rhonda Strickland (Todd), Enterprise, AL; four sisters, Gladys O’Neal, Joyce Flannagan (Wallace), Sandra Ray, all of Mobile, AL, Sarah Balentine, Lilburn GA; five grandchildren: Caylex, Julie, and Suzie Strickland, Lillie & Madelyn Cheatwood, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
