Shirley was born on November 10, 1936 in Houston County, Alabama. She and her husband were longtime faithful members of Dothan Vineyard Church. Shirley loved to sew and made many beautiful things for her family. She enjoyed baking candies and treats for family and loved ones during the holiday season. Shirley was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, her presence will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

God knew her heart was broken over the loss of her dear husband of 67 years, Jimmy Peterman. We know she is rejoicing in Heaven by his side today.

Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter and her son-in-law, Jeanne and Mike Jones, her brothers, “Buddy” and Gene, and by her sister, Jane.

Survivors include her children, Ronnie (Kim) Peterman and Kaye (Tim) Crooks; her 8 grandchildren, Stephanie (Guy) Anderson, Brock Peterman, Heather (Denny) Johnson, Kyle (Savannah) Peterman, Jayme (Tara) Wells, Jim (Elizabeth) Anderson, Kelli (Shauna) Crooks, and Shane Franklin; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; her 5 siblings, Jim (Mary) Hamm, Rodney Hamm, Marilyn (Gene) Hupp, Judy (Bobby) Hughes, and Pat Bombardieri; her sisters-in-love, Dorothy Smith and Barbara Zoch; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special feline companion, Smokey Joe.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Community Hospice for the care and compassion shown to them during their time of need, and an extra thank you to Sherry Johnson for loving our family through the loss of both of our parents.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Denny Johnson, Jim Anderson, Brock Peterman, and Kyle Peterman.
