ABBEVILLE. . .Shirley Walker Ward, a resident of Abbeville, died early Monday morning, November 4, 2024, at her home. She was 92.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday, November 8, 2024, in the Dothan City Cemetery with Chaplain Joel Laseter officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:00 A.M. Friday at the mortuary in Abbeville.
Mrs. Ward was born in Bartow, Florida and was reared in Dothan, daughter of the late J.B. Walker and Frances Elizabeth Harasuick Walker. She was a graduate of Dothan High School and attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery. Mrs. Ward lived in Dothan most of her adult lifetime before moving to Otho Creek on Lake Eufaula in Henry County in 1986. She was a member of Ft. Gaines Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Ward was an Artist and taught Art in her home for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Joseph “Bill” Ward, and a son, John Howard Ward.
Surviving relatives include her sons, Radney Ward, Panama City, FL; and David Ward (Leisha), Abbeville; grandchildren, Dillon Ward (Danielle), Dustin Ward (Brooke), Garrett Ward and Joe Ward; six great-grandchildren.
