Shirley Xenea Jenkins of Westville, Fla. passed away at a Dothan hospital on Friday, December 4, 2015. She was 79. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2015, at the Reedy Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Rev. Ike Steverson officiating and Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.
Mrs. Jenkins was born in Coffee County, Ala. on September 9, 1936 to the late Charlie David Tate and Barbara Mae Averett Tate. Phillips Van Heusen in Geneva employed her for many years prior to her retirement. In her pastime, Mrs. Jenkins loved to play cards with her family and friends. In her younger days she enjoyed quilting. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her son, Bill Adams; grandson, Rickey Dale Thames, Jr.; two brothers, Bobby Tate and Eddie Tate; and a sister, Carolyn Holder.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Murray B. Jenkins of Westville; two daughters, Sharon Thames (Rickey) of Bonifay and Pam Carter (Shawn) of Westville; three sisters, Eva Edwards of Cedar Town, Ga., Christine Bryant of Daleville and Ann Murphy of Bonifay; three brothers, Charlie Tate of Prosperity, Fla., David Tate of Westville, and Calvin Tate of Wausau, Fla.; four grandchildren, Valerie Wink (P.J.) of Bonifay, Brandy Adams of Geneva, Dustin Adams and Hunter Miller of Westville; and great grandchildren, Eden Wink and Ezra Wink.
