Sonja was the beloved wife of Gary Duke, with whom she shared a beautiful life since their marriage in 2009. Their partnership was built on mutual respect, deep affection, and an unwavering commitment to each other. She was a cherished member of the Duke family, dearly loved by her in-laws, Larry and Catrina Duke, who embraced her as their own daughter.
Sonja was a devoted daughter to her father, Darrell Myers, who will forever hold her memory in his heart. She is also survived by her step-mother, Pauline Myers. Her mother, Janice Myers, predeceased her, but the bond they shared continues to live on through the stories and lessons she imparted. Sonja's love for her family was evident in her close relationship with her sister, Shana Myers, and her adoration for her nephews, Jeremiah Moorefield and Axel Luck, and niece, Jacey Moorefield, who brought immeasurable joy to her life.
The loss of her uncle Ricky Mckenzie and aunt Sandy Mckenzie was a profound sadness for Sonja, but she found solace in the cherished memories they had created together. Her Grandmother Myers, who also predeceased her, was a guiding light in Sonja's life, instilling in her the virtues of kindness and generosity that she carried with her always.
Sonja's educational journey began at Ashford High School, where she was known for her bright spirit and eagerness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her academic achievements were a testament to her dedication and hard work, qualities that she applied to every aspect of her life.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Sonja would describe her as a kind and loving woman, whose presence was a gift to the world. Sonja's zest for life was contagious, and she had a remarkable ability to uplift others with her warm smile and sense of humor. Her interests were many, but it was her love for people that stood out the most. She had an innate talent for making each person feel valued and important, a trait that endeared her to countless friends and acquaintances.
As we say farewell to Sonja Duke, we celebrate the extraordinary life she led and the countless hearts she warmed. Her spirit will live on through the love she shared, the faith she exemplified, and the memories she created with those who loved her.
