Standland F. Adams, a resident of Cottonwood, Alabama passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020. He was 67.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 11:00am at Sunset Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hickory Grove Baptist Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to services.
Standland is preceded in death by his two sisters, Judy Adams and Sylvia Troller, and his son, Shane Adams.
Standland was born on July 6, 1952 in Lake Placid, Florida and grew up in Cottonwood, AL. He graduated from Cottonwood High School and served in the Marine Corp from 1968 until 1974. He was a truck driver for 19 years with Mayflower Moving Company. Standland was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Cottonwood. For many years, Standland worked out of a barber shop coordinating food drives and would later have his own place to serve his community. He would always give the leftover food to the senior center and to the homeless in our area. Standland enjoyed singing, dancing, and being with his family.
Standland is survived by his wife, Linda Carroll Adams; his children, Joe Adams, Larry (Mary) Adams, Gary (Kimberly) Adams, Michele (Tim) Paul, Heather Adams, Brandon Adams, Jessie (Eric) McKenzie, Ashley Adams, Lora (Sunny) Rogers, and Beverly Adams; his 23 grandchildren, Stephen Kania, Sydney Kania, Stone Kania, Chris Wheeler, Blake Wheeler, Kegan Ahmed, Hesham Ahmed, Josh Adams, Shae Adams, Tyler Adams, Jennifer Hopkins, Billy Joe Brown, Shawna Guess, Chyann Adams, Chasity Adams, Christian Merritt, Amellia Adams, Georgia Adams, Hope McKenzie, Summer Rain McKenzie, Xavier Brown, Jordan Copeland, and Destiney Blackmon; his 15 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Roger, Archer, Kaylee, Eli Wheeler, Jackson Wheeler, Mackenzie Adams, Mackenna Adams, Malikah Adams, Ayden Adams, Brayden Adams, Alyssa Guess, Bradley Guess, Kalep Broxton, and Zoie Broxton; his sister, Joyce Forss.
The family wishes to say a special thank you to Colleen Arnold and Katrina Tidwell for their help with the food bank while Standland was unable to do so.
