STANLEY DEAN BRACKIN
HEADLAND. . .Stanley Dean Brackin, a resident of Headland, died late Thursday afternoon, May 29, 2014, in the emergency room of a Dothan hospital. He was 86.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 1, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Phillip Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Blackwood Church, c/o Betty Jean Chancey, 2211 County Road 83, South, Headland, Alabama 36345.
Mr. Brackin was born and reared in the Blackwood Community of Dale County, the son of the late Josiah Minton (Joe) Brackin and Mae Ward Brackin. He was a graduate of the Midland City High School. Mr. Brackin served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. He was an active and lifelong member of the Blackwood Church. Mr. Brackin was retired from DuPont at the Savannah River Plant in Aiken, South Carolina.
Surviving relatives include his first cousins, Philemon Rister, Neil Rister, Ella Verna Givens, Giscene Weaver, D. E. Ward, Olive Wood, Deuel Brackin, and David Brackin.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Jami Brackin, Lamar Rister, Larry Rister, Mark Givens, Bern Wood, and Davey Wood.
