DOTHAN…Starla Nowell Schroll, a resident of Dothan, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 6, 2014. She was 63.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 8, 2014, in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, near Grimes, with Reverend Scotty Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Dothan and Headland. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., 2600 Network Blvd., Suite 300, Frisco, TX 75034.
Starla Nowell Schroll was born and reared near Headland, and lived in Dothan most of her adult lifetime. She was a 1969 graduate of Headland High School and attended Wallace Community College. Starla was self-employed as the President/Owner & Operator of D J Moving Services, Inc. of Dothan. In earlier years, she was employed as the office manager for D.A. Nowell, Jr., D.M.D. P.A. Starla was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and attended the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Durwood A. Nowell, Sr. and a brother, William Kenneth Nowell.
Surviving relatives include three sons, Gregory Schroll, Cumming, GA; Garrett Schroll (Tavia), Twenty-Nine Palms, CA; and Grant Schroll, Dothan; her mother, Maureen DeShazo Nowell, Headland; a granddaughter, Isobel Schroll; three brothers, Dr. D. A. Nowell, Jr., Dothan; Ronny Nowell, Headland; and Benny Nowell (Cynthia), Dothan; a sister-in-law, Gloria Nowell, Charleston, SC; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Ryan Nowell, Rustin Nowell, Sean Nowell, Ben Nowell, Danny Dean, Tom Bush, and Todd Wheetley.
