Stephen Anthony Mungie, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017 at his residence. He was 70.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Crossroads Baptist Church with Rev. Doug MacCormack officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 1-2 pm.
Mr. Mungie was born on January 16, 1947 in Keego Harbour, MI and lived the early years of his life there. He moved to El Cajon, California where he graduated from high school at El Cajon Valley High School. Mr. Mungie joined the US Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran having served as a Brown Water Sailor and drove a patrol boat on the river. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged from the Navy and 6 months later joined the US Army, and would serve a total of 22 years until he retired in 1986. Mr. Mungie was in the medical field during his service in the US Army. He resided in Colorado Springs, CO for 10 years until moving to Dothan in 2002. He was a former member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, CO and a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Mungie; 2 daughters, Samantha Brick and her fiance, Gregory Lathery and Monica Dawn Phipps; his mother, Alice "Pauline" Mungie; his 3 grandchildren, Petra Michelle Brick and her fiance, Austin Knight, Autumn Nicole Lynne Brick, and Wynter Terre Marie Brick; his sisters, Debbie Dianne (Jim) Walker and Karen Rezler-Collins; his 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
