ABBEVILLE. . .Stephen Gene “Steve” Bass, a resident of Abbeville, died Sunday morning, November 6, 2022, at his home. He was 75.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 8, 2022, in the Judson Baptist Church with Reverend Brandon Turner officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SouthernCare Hospice, 2576 Montgomery Highway, Suite 2, Dothan, AL 36303.
Steve Bass was born in Montgomery and lived in Andalusia before moving to Lake Eufaula in Henry County in 2010. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War era. Steve was a member of the Judson Baptist Church. He was retired from Power South in Andalusia as a Heavy Equipment Technician. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved God, his country, his family and his church. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Marcus Bass.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Cathrine Spivey Bass, his mother, Louise Johnston Bass, a daughter, Kelly Smith (Chris), three sons, Jeff Bass (Renee’), Scott Bass (Beth), and Marc Bass (Mel); two step-daughters, Dawn Blalock (Chris) and Karen Barefoot (Rusty); a sister, Susan Stockton (Marshall), and a brother in heart, David Albury; nine grandchildren, Eden, Hudson, Brayden, Chason, Meredith, Cristian, John Stephen, Hunter and Holly.
The family would like to express their appreciation to SouthernCare Hospice, especially Ramona and Cherry for the loving care and kindness shown to Steve during his illness.
