Military Honors will be held 1 pm Saturday, June 1, 2024 in Sunset Memorial Park at the Helicopter Pavilion.

Stephen M. Lowe, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and decorated veteran, passed away unexpectedly on May 16, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on August 23, 1936, in West Virginia, Stephen's early years in his home state shaped a life marked by courage, intelligence, and a profoundly interesting character.

Stephen’s sense of duty led him to join the United States Army, where he served two tours in Vietnam. His bravery in service was recognized with the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star, distinctions that spoke to his valor and commitment to his country. After his distinguished military career, Stephen settled in Dothan, Alabama, where he became a respected member of the community over the past 50 years.

Steve was blessed with a loving family, including his devoted wife, Virginia Dare Lowe, and their children: Michael Lowe, Gary (Valerie) Lowe, Cindy (Henry) Miller, Dr. Stuart (Kimberly) Campbell Sr., John (Lynn) Campbell Jr., and Jennifer Campbell. He took great joy in his role as a grandfather to Savannah (Blake) West, Summer Lowe and her fiancé Carson, Megan (Logan) Nash, Stuart (Melissa) Campbell Jr., and Taylor (Chaiza) Campbell. Stephen was also a proud great-grandfather to numerous great-grandchildren and held a special place in the hearts of many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents, Bruce and Anne Ross Lowe, his son Jeffrey Lowe, and his brothers Robert Lowe and Fred Lowe. Steve’s legacy of love and resilience lives on through his family.

Steve was a man of many interests and passions. He was an avid golfer, a skill he enjoyed honing in the warm Alabama sun. A huge Alabama fan, he rarely missed a chance to cheer on his favorite team. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Known for his strong opinions, Steve never shied away from a lively discussion, always ready to engage and share his wealth of knowledge and life experiences.

Above all, Steve loved his family more than anything. His dedication to his loved ones was the cornerstone of his life, providing a foundation of support and love that will forever be remembered.

Stephen Lowe will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire courage and love in the hearts of those he touched. His life, a testament to the power of dedication to family, country, and community, will be honored and cherished by all who had the privilege to know this remarkable man.
