DOTHAN. . .Sterling J. Windham, a resident of Dothan, died Thursday night, March 14, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. He was 87.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 18, 2024, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Kevin Krist officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinckard Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday at the mortuary in Headland.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.


            Mr. Windham was born and reared in Dale County, near the Echo Community, son of the late Consie Carlos Windham, Sr. and Lula Vee Bell Windham. He was a 1955 graduate of Midland City High School. Mr. Windham served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1955 until 1959. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dothan and was a former member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church. While a member of Lafayette Street Methodist, Mr. Windham served as Superintendent of Sunday School for many years. He also served on the Administrative Board and was active in the United Methodist Men’s Club and various other church activities. Mr. Windam was a retired employee of United Parcel Service in Dothan after thirty-one years employment. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Pilcher Windham, and brothers, Consie C. Windham, Jr., Don Windham and Daniel Webster Windham.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Wendy Windham, Dothan; a son, Keith Windham (Erica), Auburn; grandchildren, Mallory Harper, Kate Windham Ritter (Michael) and Camden Windham; sisters-in-law, Evelyn King, Dothan; and Jackie Windham, Echo Community; several nieces and nephews.
