Steven Otis Lamb of Geneva, AL passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023. He was 76 years old. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Steve was born in Bloomington, IL on June 24, 1946 to the late Carl Aldoph and Normalee Leona Reck Lamb. Steve graduated from More High School in Farmer City, IL. After high school he attended and later graduated from Illinois State University. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy.
Steve began his working career in the grocery business while in high school. He quickly began working his way up the ladder as a meat cutter and then to a meat buyer. It was in 1981 when Steve and his wife Jo picked up and moved to south Alabama for a new opportunity. Steve began working at Fleming Foods and he worked there until it closed. He later went to work for Sysco and retired in 2011.
Steve had a great love for the outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing, hunting for artifacts, bird watching, and woodworking. Steve was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family takes comfort in knowing that Steve had a relationship with Christ and that he is now in the presences of our Lord.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Phillip West.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jo Elizabeth Lamb of Geneva, AL; one daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” Berg of Pensacola, FL; one son, Matthew Armstrong Lamb (Markie) of Bethlehem, FL; four grandchildren, Max Berg, Marilee Lamb, Caroline Lamb and Mark Armstrong Lamb; two sisters, Audrey West (Phil) of Farmer City, IL and Nanci Bowling (Mike) of Yuma, AZ; and a number of nieces and nephews.
