DOTHAN, AL… Sue Pitts Cobb, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, formerly of Abbeville, Alabama, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 18, 2023, at her home. She was 83.
A memorial service will be held 2:30 P.M. Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Reverend Brandon Turner and Reverend Travis Free officiating. A eulogy will be given by Jack Carpenter. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:30 P.M. prior to the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Cobb was born in Reeders Mill, Barbour County, Alabama to the late Jesse O’Neal Pitts and Bertha Mae Adkinson Pitts. She graduated from Rehobeth High School in 1958 as salutatorian of her class. Mrs. Sue married Bobby Greene Cobb in 1958, and lived in Dallas, Texas until he finished mortuary school. They returned to Dothan, Alabama and she began her career as a bookkeeper. She worked for Blaum Industries, WTVY, and Carpenter, Wiggins, Jordan, Thomas, and Scarborough PC. After retirement, her and Bobby built a home on Thomas Mill Creek, in the Screamer Community of Henry County, Alabama. Mrs. Cobb loved growing plants and took great pride in her yards. She also enjoyed traveling and working with her son at his sawmill. She was a natural leader. She was an active member of the Judson Baptist Church.
Leaving to cherish her memories is her husband, Bobby Greene Cobb; her son, Michael Cobb; her grandchildren, Mikael O’Neal Cobb Holzhauer (Hunter) and Zachary McMurphy Cobb; her great-grandchildren, Carr, Nora Kate, Rhine, and Bo Holzhauer; her sister, Carolyn Pitts Watson (Don); and her nieces, Kimberly Watson Watterson (Robb) and Kris Watson Boone (John).
