Sue Wood Roberts, a resident of Abbeville, died late Sunday evening, June, 14, 2015, at her home. She was 82.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 17, 2015, in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Ross Kilpatrick officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary and Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, c/o of the “Children’s Fund”, 310 Dothan Road, Abbeville, Alabama 36310.
Mrs. Roberts, daughter of the late Myer Lobe Wood and Donnie Arrah Woolf (Judy) Wood, was a native of Shorterville. She formerly lived in the Oakey Grove Community until 1972 before moving to Abbeville where she lived most of her adult lifetime. Mrs. Roberts was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, where she worked in the nursery for many years. She retired from the Henry County Board of Education in the lunchroom of the Abbeville Middle School. Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Ray Roberts, a daughter, Vanzie Roberts, four sisters, Linda Daniels, Mary Eliza Wood, Melissa Jane Wood, and Martha Elizabeth Wood, and four brothers, Jimmy Earl Wood, Gene Wood, Edward Wood, and Roger Wood.
Surviving relatives include a sister, Betty McFay, Blakely, GA; and two sisters-in-law, Faye Wood, Shorterville, and Barbara Ann Wood, Abbeville, numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care given to her by her special friend, Sue Barker and her caregivers, Carla Harris, Melissa Brackin, and Trisha Jackson.
