Susan Fleming Hutto, a resident of Abbeville, Alabama (White Oak) passed away Friday, August 30, 2024. She was 72 years old.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. CST in the chapel of Glover Funeral Home in Eufaula with Rev. Brandon Turner officiating and Glover Funeral Home of Eufaula directing. Burial will follow in the Shorterville Baptist Church Cemetery in Shorterville, Alabama. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.


Susan was born March 21, 1952, in Henry County, Alabama to the late Charles Bennett and Margaret Wood Fleming and grew up in Shorterville, near Abbeville, Alabama. She worked for several years with American Buildings Company in Eufaula and attended accounting courses at Sparks Technical College while working and raising a family. She and her husband, Jimmy Hutto, ventured into the restaurant business while continuing to work their daily jobs. She got her start in the restaurant business when she opened the Anchor Inn at White Oak. Then, she bought the infamous Mann’ s Fish Camp and renamed it “The Creek” restaurant. Susan was a remarkably successful businessperson. She and Jimmy worked many long days and nights and were a great contributor to the growth of Eufaula. Those who knew Susan loved her as well as her outstanding food.


She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Jimmy Hutto; three brothers, Harold Wayne Fleming, Jerry Fleming, and John Fleming.


Survivors include her son, Danny Hutto of Abbeville, Alabama; daughter, Jeanie Hutto of Abbeville, Alabama; brother, William Fleming (Robin) of Clayton, Alabama; sister, Linda Hays (James) of Dothan, Alabama; two grandchildren, C.J. Driver (Aaron) of Middleburg, Florida and Allie Bynum of Jackson, Mississippi; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.


Ask to serve as pallbearers are Clay Fleming, Jeff Stensland, Allen Fleming, Teresa Howerton Brooks, Kenneth Milner, and Robert Wayne Milner.
