Sybil McDonald Knight, 85, of Enterprise, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at her home.


A funeral service will be conducted at the Enterprise First United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Tonya L. Elmore officiating.  Interment will be at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise, AL with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.  The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Sybil and Harry Knight Scholarship fund at Enterprise First United Methodist Church, 217 South Main Street, Enterprise, AL  36330.


Mrs. Knight was born September 16, 1927 in Hartford, AL.  She was the daughter of the late Laura (Vickers) and John Lee McDonald.


Mrs. Knight was a long-time member of the Enterprise First United Methodist Church.


Mrs. Knight was preceeded in death by her husband of 66 years, James Harry Knight, Sr., and her brother, Elton E. McDonald.    She is survived by her sons, James H. Knight, Jr. and his wife, Judy Upchurch Knight, Bartlett, TN; Michael Bruce Knight, Enterprise, AL; as well as her grandchidren, Dr. Laura Knight Engbretson and her husband, Dr. John Engbretson, Memphis, TN; James Harry Knight, III (Jay) and his wife, Janna Casteel Knight, Bartlett, TN; and Emily Catherine Knight, Bartlett, TN; great-grandsons Evan Joseph Engbretson, Eli James Engbretson, and Elliot Wayne Engbretson, all of Memphis, TN.  She is also survived by her sister, Hazel McDonald Harrison, of Geneva, AL, and her brother Dr. W. Max McDonald and his wife, Margaret, of Birmingham, AL.
