Sylvia was born December 6, 1946 to the late parents of Ruthie and Albert Lee Comer. Sylvia went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 24, 2018. During her childhood she was a member of the St. Paul AME Church, Ozark, Alabama.
She graduated in 1965 from D.A. Smith high school in Ozark, Alabama. She then relocated to Hackensack, New Jersey where she married Frank White in November 1991, here they both attended Mount Zion Baptist church. When her children were growing up, she was known in the neighborhood to play kickball and get all the children involved in making home- made ice cream. Sylvia loved attending and participating in her children’s activities. All the teachers at school looked forward to tasting her special treats for the bake sales.
Sylvia worked as a telecommunications engineer for Quest Diagnostics in Teterboro, N.J, where she retired after 33 years. Most people didn’t know that she had a beautiful voice and loved to sing gospel songs. She also enjoyed getting her family together, cooking large meals for family and friends and baking exciting new treats. She was the “favorite “aunt to some. Sylvia had a loud infectious laugh. If you didn’t find something funny at the time, you would after hearing her laugh. When meeting her, you couldn’t help but notice her “million dollar” smile. She had a smile that would brighten any room.
She will forever live in our hearts.
Sylvia is survived by her husband Frank White and two children: Sandra Brinson (Attichous Brinson) and John Williams.
Sisters: Dorothy Alls (Robert Alls) and Catherine Hinton (Lonnie “PeeWee” Hinton)
Granchildren: Xavier Brinson and Elijah Brinson
Nieces and nephews: Dorothy Blain (Charles Blain), Michael Comer, Stanley Comer, Robert Alls, Valerie Cook, Philip Cook.
