Talmadge England, a resident of Ozark, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019 at his residence. He was 78.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, May 17, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1-2 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, 1314 Westgate Pkwy., Dothan, AL 36303, or to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Rd., Montgomery, AL 36111.
Mr. England was born in Crossville, TN and live the early years of his life in Bondecoft, TN. He joined the US Army and served for 11 years in Special Forces at Ft. Bragg, NC. Mr. England was a member of the Golden Knights Sky Diving Team. He was a crew chief for helicopters and fixed wing aircraft at Ft. Bragg. He retired after 23 years of service at Red Stone Arsenal. He later worked with Civil Service at Ft. Rucker until he retired in 2007. Mr. England also had the honor of serving on President Kennedy’s Honor Guard detail at his funeral. His world was his family, he was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. England was a genuine man and never met a stranger.
Mr. England was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ivor Burgess England and by his sister, Brassie Young.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Elaine B. England; his sons, Ricky (Debora) England, David (Missy) England, and Tony (Misti) England; his 8 grandchildren, Allen England, Matthew Winfrey, Emily Winfrey, Anna Winfrey, Hannah England, Reace England, Presley England, and Sutter England; his brothers, Johnny England, Ivan England, and Ernest England; his sister, Sylvia Farmer; and several nieces and nephews.
