Tamsy Wells Borland of Pinckard passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 at her residence. She was 95 years of age.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Pinckard Baptist Church with Reverend Roger Stone officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 1:30pm until time of the service.
Mrs. Borland was born in Daleville on June 27, 1919 to Obie and Vera Josephine Moates Wells. She was raised in Ozark where her father ran the theater. After high school, she worked as a hairdresser. Tamsy was married on November 23, 1950 and her husband served in the U.S. Army and retired in 1968. They lived in El Paso, Texas; Grand Junction, Alaska; Germany and Niagra Falls, NY. She was a member of Pinckard Baptist Church.
Mrs. Borland was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Murray Wells and Thomas Wells; her sister, Christine Stone; her niece, Nina Jo Culverhouse and her great-nephew, Obie Lee Culverhouse.
She is survived by her husband of almost 64 years, Wallace Comer Borland, Jr. of Pinckard; her daughters, Barbara Franks and her husband Greg of Greenville, SC., Tammy Borland of Mobile; her son, Wallace Comer Borland III and his wife, Kathy of Pinckard; her niece, Suzanne Davis and her husband Chuck of New Brockton; her nephews, David Harper and his wife Shirley of Ozark, and Robin Culverhouse of Ariton; also surviving are her grandchildren, Brooke Stone, Aris Borland, Joe Franks, Paige Turner and Heather Harley and her great-granddaughter, Sierra Harley.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Borland, Bill Edwards, Mark Ivey, Arthur Preston, Preston Thomley and Charles Weed.
