SHORTERVILLE…Terri Ann Hayes Barfield, of Shorterville, died Friday morning, November 25, 2016, in a Dothan hospital. She was 62.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 27, 2016, in the Shorterville Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Abbeville.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Abbeville Christian Academy, P.O. Box 9, Abbeville, Alabama 36310.
Mrs. Barfield was born in Ft. Gaines, Georgia and reared in Shorterville, Alabama, daughter of the late Charles Thomas Hayes, Jr. and Rosanna Phillips Hayes. She was a graduate of Abbeville Christian Academy and received a degree in merchandising from the University of Alabama. Mrs. Barfield lived in New Orleans, LA and Callaway, FL before returning to Shorterville in 1997. She was a die-hard Crimson Tide fan and a passionate Elvis fan. Mrs. Barfield was preceded in death by her husband, Steven W. Barfield, step-mother, Maggie Tillis Hayes, and a great-nephew, Barrett Mobley.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Raven McDonald (Buck), Abbeville; a granddaughter and the light of her life, Stella Blue McDonald; two sisters, Elaine Kennedy (Thomas) and Charlotte Mobley (Perry), all of Shorterville, a brother, Phillip Hayes (Susan), Abbeville; nieces, Krista Kennedy, Paige Mobley Watson, Lauren Hayes Smith; nephews, Perry Mobley IV, Joel and Joshua Kennedy, and Dr. Daniel Hayes; several great-nieces and great-nephews; her best friend, Nancy Reynolds; an uncle, Robert E. Phillips, Jr. (Linda); an aunt, Edwina Phillips Ward; a step-sister, Maresa Tillis McKenney and a step-brother, Randy Tillis.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Joel Kennedy, Joshua Kennedy, Perry Mobley IV, Harlan Mobley, Brandon Watson and Dr. Daniel Hayes.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and physicians of the Critical Care Unit at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center for the excellent medical care provided to Mrs. Barfield during her illness.
