Terri Lynn Baggett Floyd, 55, went home to be with the Lord on September 11, 2016, as a result of a drug overdose. Terri was born on March 4, 1961 in Dothan, Alabama. She graduated from Houston Academy. She lived and worked in Dothan for almost all of her adult life. Terri retired from the Dothan City Schools after teaching at Northview High School and Beverlye Middle School. English and Reading were two of her greatest loves. She was a true bibliophile.
Terri was a graduate of The University of Central Missouri with her Bachelor of Science in Education and from Troy University in Dothan with her Masters also in Education.
Terri leaves behind her parents, Jerry and Sherryl Baggett of Dothan, sisters, Jennifer Kirkland of Dothan, and April Baggett Thrower and husband, Dr. Jason Thrower of Andalusia, AL; father of her children, Ken Floyd, Dothan; daughter, Erin Bledsoe and husband, Will of Knoxville, TN; son, Lane Floyd and wife, Mara of Jackson, GA; and two grandsons, Parker and Harrison.
Terri’s family truly loved her and tried to be as supportive as possible as she struggled with her addiction that ultimately took her life. If you have any loved ones who are fighting addiction of any kind, Terri’s family asks that you do everything possible to be supportive and guide them to rehabilitation.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 15, 2016, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. and Dr. Jason Thrower officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the The Foundry Ministries, P.O. Box 824, Bessemer, Alabama 35021.
