Terry Lynn "Papoo" Wallace, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on August 6, 2024, in Guntersville, Alabama. Born on January 12, 1949, in Dothan, Alabama, Terry's life was marked by his loving nature, kindness, and thoughtfulness, which touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Terry's early years were spent in Hartford, Alabama, where he discovered his love for little league baseball. His family later moved to Dothan, where he completed his education at Dothan High School in 1967. His academic journey continued at Auburn University, where he not only excelled in his studies, graduating in 1974 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Nuclear Engineering, but also left a lasting mark through his leadership as president of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity.
It was at Auburn that Terry met the love of his life, Carolyn Lorine Fricke. The couple united in marriage on December 30, 1971, in Guntersville, Alabama, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. Terry's professional career began at Alabama Power Company, contributing to the construction of Farley Nuclear Plant. His dedication and expertise led him to C.P. Watson Company, and ultimately to the fulfillment of his entrepreneurial dream when he founded Consolidated Electrical Contractors and Engineers, Inc. in 1983. For 40 years, Terry poured his passion into his work, creating not just a successful business but a family of employees who revered him.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two daughters, Kareth Ledford and Jennifer McCullough; 7 grandchildren, Austin Pearson (Helen Dickerson), Anna Pearson, ElizabethAnne Bryan (Jon Christopher), Mary Elizabeth, Laura, Cole and Garrett McCullough; an aunt, Evelyn Davis; older brother, Danny Wilson; 2 Godchildren, Wilson Griffith and Carolyn Griffith Maples; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miles and Gladys Wallace.
A pillar of the community, Terry was a fervent supporter of the Dothan City School systems for over 35 years. His unwavering support for Auburn University was evident in his enthusiastic attendance at games and generous financial contributions. Terry's love for Auburn football was only rivaled by the joy he found in making children smile and the pride he took in his role as "Papoo" to his seven grandchildren.
Terry's legacy is one of unwavering love and commitment to his family and community. His ability to balance a strong professional presence with a tender, caring heart made him a role model to many. He will be remembered for the smiles he brought to people's faces, the support he provided to his loved ones, and the positive impact he had on every life he touched.
Family, friends, and others are invited to Ward Wilson Funeral Home, 2414 Hartford Highway. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm with services at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 10, 2024, to reminisce and honor the life of Terry.
