Terry Walden, a resident of Headland, died Saturday, September 24, 2016. He was 78.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 2, 2016, in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church of Headland with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. in the worship center. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the City of Headland Animal Rescue Mission (CHARM), P.O. Box 216, Headland, Alabama 36345 or to the First Baptist Church of Headland “Bridge To Tomorrow” Building Fund, 301 E. Church Street, Headland, Alabama 36345.
Terry Walden was born in Headland, son of the late Foy T. Walden and Mescal Powell Walden. He graduated from Headland High School in 1956 and also received a B.S. Degree in Industrial Management from Auburn University. In 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War. While serving in the Air Force, he served as a Navigator/Bombadier in Strategic Air Command (SAC). Terry was discharged in 1966 with the rank of Captain. Terry’s work career spanned thirty-five years in the poultry industry as an Industrial Engineer and in the area of management, retiring in 2003. Terry was an active member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and as the teacher of the Barnabas Sunday School Class. He returned to Headland in 1997 to his family home place where he was born and raised. Terry enjoyed spending time with his loving friends.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Sandra Stokes Walden, Headland; two daughters, Lea Walden Everett, Headland and Tricia Knowles Burgess, Auburn, AL; two sons, Chip Walden (Trudy), Dallas, GA and Tracy Knowles (Cheri), Dothan; a brother, Robert A. “Bob” Walden (Carol), Birmingham; brothers-in-law, Terry Stokes and Rickey Stokes (Marsha), all of Dothan, mother of Lea and Chip, Rennie Oates Walden, Headland; and Terry’s very special furry babies, Molly and Gracie.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the 1956 High School Class, the members of the Barnabas Sunday School Class, David and Peggy Livingston, and Bill and Debbie Gamble.
