WEBB…Thelma Deese Knowles, a resident of Webb, died Friday morning, November 28, 2014, in Extendicare Health & Rehabilitation Center, in Dothan. She was 95.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 1, 2014, in the Webb Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry M. Windsor and Reverend Joel Laseter officiating. Burial will follow in the Webb Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday in the church sanctuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Webb Baptist Church, P.O. Box 70, Webb, Alabama 36376.


            Mrs. Knowles, daughter of the late William Archie Deese and Mamie Girlie Temples Deese, was born and reared in Houston County, near Webb, and lived in Webb most of her lifetime. She was a member of the Webb Baptist Church and retired from Webb Elementary School as a dietician.  Mrs. Knowles was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend William Hollis Knowles, a son, Jerry M. Knowles, and all of her sisters and brothers.


            Surviving relatives include three sons, Durwood Knowles (Julie), Webb; Mickey Knowles (Karen), Huntington, West Virginia; Bill Knowles (Diana), Graceville, FL; a daughter-in-law, Linda Bridges Knowles, Columbia; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
