Thelma (Hall) Myers, 99, a resident of Cowarts, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at her residence with her family at her side.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 17, 2024, at Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery in Avon with Dr. Greg Aman and Dr. Ray Cobb officiating, and Glover Funeral Home directing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, Antioch Baptist Church, 3250 S. Rocky Creek Road, Ashford, AL 36312.
Thelma was born June 16, 1924, in Houston County to the late Joseph Powell Hall Sr. & Ruth (Jones) Hall. She spent the early years of her life in Ashford and was a graduate of Ashford High School. Following high school, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy where she proudly served during World War II for 18 months, packing parachutes. After her military service, she began working with GTE as a phone operator, a job which she worked for over 20 years. Thelma was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willard Eugene Myers; a son-in-law, Allen Cherry; three brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by her three daughters, Debra Cherry of Cowarts, Twyla Pipkin (Richard) of Enterprise, and Wanda Retherford (Ronnie) of Enterprise; six grandchildren, Candy Lawrence (Eric), Holli Ingram (Steve), Luke Retherford (Stephanie), Josh Pipkin (Katie), Leah Still (Matt), Hannah Hnytka (Mike); 16 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for the compassion and care shown to their loved one during this time.
