Thelma Lott Conner went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 24, 2016 in her home at the earthly age of 89.

She was born to Timothy and Bertha Lott in Lake Worth, Florida and spent her childhood years in rural Irwin County, Georgia. She was preceded in death by Hoyt Conner, her husband of 48 years; beloved daughter-in-law Betty, wife of her son Tony; and her brother Gary Lott. Mr. and Mrs. Conner lived their early married life in Waycross, Douglas, Athens, Atlanta, and Decatur, Georgia before moving to Dothan in 1960.

Thelma was an excellent homemaker, skilled seamstress, outstanding cook, and unsurpassed gardener. She was a faithful Christian and loved her church, Southside Baptist, where she was a member for over 55 years. She taught in and served as Director of the Children’s Sunday School Department for over 20 years and was involved with activities for the Youth Department as well.

She is survived by her three children – Anthony (Tony) Conner, Barbara Conner Taylor and husband Tommy, Eugene Conner and wife Judy; ten grandchildren – Andrew Conner and wife Leigh, Joshua Conner and wife Jeanne, Connie Chadwick Williams and husband Royce, James Taylor and wife Gean, Janice Taylor Deal, John Taylor and wife Lee, April Taylor, Alisa Conner Hamm and husband Clay, Emily Conner Bond and husband Thomas, and Bonnie Conner Sheldon and husband Ted; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. Thelma has five surviving siblings – Mavis Harper, Hershel Lott, Betty Jean Miller, Patricia Borum, and Gail Morrison. In addition, she is survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy Flynn, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Our dearly loved “Nanny” will be sorely missed. But until we meet her again we will treasure our many, many fond memories of her. We will forever be grateful for the love with which she blessed each and every one of us.

Funeral services will be held Monday, 10:30am at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Stacy Stafford officiating. Graveside services will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Robert Byrd of Sunset Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30am to 10:30am Monday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 423 East Cottonwood Rd, Dothan, AL 36301.

Robert Byrd of Sunset Funeral Home, (334) 983-6604, is in charge of arrangements. Please call us or visit www.SunsetMemorialPark.com for more information.
