Boots was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Derritt Dixon McBride, with whom she built a life full of joy and devotion. She was also preceded by her parents, Luther and Odie Jordan; her sons, Robert Luther McBride and Billy Joe McBride; and her siblings, Eschol Jordan, Emory Jordan, Marie Ingram, Voncile Jordan Strickland, and Betty Jordan Cook. For 32 years, Boots served the community through her dedicated work at all three JCPenney locations in Dothan, where she was known for her unwavering commitment and thoughtful service. Her work ethic and caring nature made her a beloved figure not only to her colleagues but also to the many customers she encountered.

Boots interests and activities reflected her love for her community and her faith. An avid gardener, she was an active member of the Spade and Trowel Garden Club, sharing her green thumb and her love for the beauty of nature with others. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her 62-year membership at Calvary Baptist Church, where she also taught Sunday School for 30 years, imparting wisdom and kindness to generations of young minds.

Her role as a Cub Scout Leader showcased her dedication to nurturing the youth, and neighborhood mom everyone could count on. Her penchant for sending cards, letters, thoughtful notes or a heartfelt thank you card to friends monthly was a testament to her belief in the power of connection and the importance of expressing gratitude.

In addition to her church and club involvement, Boots occasionally stepped into the role of a substitute teacher, further extending her influence and care to the broader community. Her priorities were always clear: family, church, and yard work, in that order, which she managed with grace and a gentle spirit.

Thera "Boots" McBride was the embodiment of thoughtfulness and gentleness, a faith-filled woman who lived her values every day. Her gentle demeanor, combined with her strong faith, made her a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were blessed to know her.
