Thomas Arnold Green of Chancellor, AL passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 80.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2024, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Red Coleman and Rev. Zach Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m.


The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 in his memory.


Thomas was born in Bellwood, AL on August 31, 1944, to the late Clarence Luther and Janie Pittman Green. Thomas retired from Ft. Rucker after 43 years of working with Civil Service as a Production Controller with the Department of Logistics. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed farming, raising cows, hogs, and just spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren on the farm. He was a hard worker and provided well for his family. He enjoyed watching Auburn Tiger Football games and telling jokes with family and friends. He was a member of Bellwood Baptist Church and faithfully read his Bible.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first-born grandson, Eason Griffin; siblings and their spouses, Jerry Green (Sandra), Martha Auston (Donald), Earl Green, Joan Martin (Lomax) and Jean Sanders (Ron).


Thomas is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Kathy D. Green of Chancellor, AL; three children, Jason Green of Chancellor, AL, Kim Green of Geneva, AL and Chris Courington (Shelley) of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren, Emma Griffin, Evan Griffin, Austin Green, Amelia Courington and John Reese Courington; siblings, Luther Green (Rose) of Montgomery, AL, Sue Fondren (Archie) of Hartford, AL and Bobby Green (Helen) of Prattville, AL; one sister-in-law, June Green of Bellwood, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends; a special friend, Pat Edwards of New Brockton, AL, also survives.


The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Center Well Home Health and Dayspring Hospice for their devoted love and care shown to our loved one.


 Serving as pallbearers will be Evan Griffin, Austin Green, Chad Martin, Wade Green, Paul Fondren, David Green, Ronnie Green, Ladair Sanders and Lukas Green.
