Thomas Benjamin Hopkins, Jr., 84, a resident of Dothan passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Flowers Hospital.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Brian Hopkins officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.


Mr. Hopkins was born August 25, 1931 in Lafayette, Louisiana and lived the early part of his life there. He joined the US Air Force in 1949 and was a Veteran of the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. He later attended college in Lafayette, LA and attained a degree in Electrical Engineering Design. He was employed as an electrical designer with Petrochem for many years until his retirement in 1993. He resided in Denham Springs, LA from 1961-1989 and moved to Dothan in 2013. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Denham Springs where he served as a deacon.


Survivors include his son, Brian Hopkins; his daughters, Mellanie Woodcock, Bridget Tate, and Lydia Jolla; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Kenneth Hopkins and Gay Hopkins; his sister, Barbara Mangum.
