Thomas Glenn Ryan, a resident of Columbia, passed away on December 22, 2020. He was 73.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Clayton Nowell and Elder Thomas Bond officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Headland.
Tommy was born on March 22, 1947 in Cullman, Alabama, to the late Thomas Iverson and Dorothy Ryan. He grew up in Steele, Alabama, where he graduated from Ashville High School, class of 1966. Tommy then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Vietnam War and was aboard the USS Hornet during the Apollo Ten and Eleven Recovery Operations. After serving four years in the Navy, he then moved back home and married the love of his life, Roberta. Together they worked with family on the dairy farm for eight years. Tommy and his family later moved to Houston County, where he worked at Farley Nuclear Plant for over 34 years. He was a devoted and dedicated family man and loved spending quality time with them. He will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Roberta Ryan; his son, Jamie (Carmen) Ryan; his two daughters, Jenny (Luke) McEntyre and Jill (Tim) Carter; eight grandchildren, Brianna (Tyler) Daniels, Brennan (Izzy) Pilley, Raygan Parr, Joanna (Joseph) Mixon, Savannah McEntyre, Julia Ryan, Cody Chandler, and Jacey Chandler; two great-grandchildren, Asher Pilley and Walker Daniels; two sisters, Patsy (Billy) Barnes and Peggy Ryan; two brothers-in-law, Bo Davis and John (Peggy) Davis; several nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Tim Carter, Luke McEntyre, Brennan Pilley, Cody Chandler, Joseph Mixon, and Tyler Daniels.
