Thomas J. Maher, 89, of Dothan died on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at his home. He was born on March 31, 1929 in Queens New York to Thomas Joseph Maher, Sr., and Mary Maher (Morrisey).
Visitation: Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 6 PM – 8 PM at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial: 10 AM, Monday, October 1, 2018 at St. Columba Church with Rev. Msgr. Patrick Gallagher, with burial to follow at Memory Hill Cemetery
Tom was a very decent man and had a great sense of humor. He raised his five children to know right from wrong and had fun with his grandchildren. Tom following in his father’s footsteps, served as a New York City Police Officer, retiring in 1977 after 20 years of dedicated service.
He volunteered as an usher at St. Columba Church for many years and set up a profitable wood working shop at Rose Hill Senior Center.
Family to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 67 years: Connie Maher, a devoted son Steven Maher, and two caring grandsons, Justin B. Griffin and Jarred T. Griffin (Jordyn), four daughters also survive.
