Thomas Jackson Griffin, 69, of Columbia passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral services will be 3 pm Friday, August 24, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Beck officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Griffin was born June 2, 1943 in Houston County and resided in this area most of his life. He was in charge of maintenance at the Omussee Creek RV Park for several years until his illness. He was an avid fisherman. Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Griffin, a son John Preston Griffin, and brothers, Elliott Griffin, J.R. Griffin, and Gary Griffin.

Survivors include his daughter Kay Shelley and her fiancé Jonathan Luna of Dothan; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; a brother David (Sara) Griffin of Leesburg, FL; a sister Esther (Joe) Stogner of Donalsonville, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.
