Mr. Thomas Lamar Ward of Samson passed away at Wiregrass Medical Center on Friday, April 3, 2015. He was 95. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Samson First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Jimmy Eddins officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 04, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to, First Assembly of God, P.O. Mr. Ward was born in Butler Co., AL on February 06, 1920 to the late James Henry and Bertie McCarthy Ward. In additions to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lolie Knowles Ward; two brothers, Offie and Grover Ward; two sisters, Mae Bell Daniels and Jewel Frances Smith.
He is survived by four children, Billy Lamar Ward (Mary) of Livingston, AL, Sammy Malone Ward (Sarah) of Springfield, MO, Gloria Dianne Norwood (Marlon) of Enterprise, AL, and Helen Weeks (Wayne) of Geneva; grandchildren, Col David Lamar Ward (Kim) of Madison, AL, Lt. Col Chad Everett Ward (Stephanie) of Enterprise, Gregory Malone Ward (Jennifer) of Springfield, MO, Susan Alana Chandler (Lt. Col Jerry) of Haymarket, VA, and Philip Houston Norwood (Jodee) of Enterprise; great-grandchildren, Melanie Chandler Castillo (Dylan), William Jay Chandler, Jacob Andrew Chandler, Audrey Katherine Ward, Meredith Elizabeth Ward, Anne Everette Ward, Colm Malone Ward, Morna Frances Ward, Jack Thomas Norwood, and Jasper Crockett Norwood; two brothers, J.C. Ward (Betty) of Elba and Ralph Ward of Samson; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
