PINCKARD. . .Thomas Merlyn “Tom” Borland, III, a resident of Pinckard, died Thursday afternoon, September 28, 2023, in a Dothan hospital. He was 76.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 1, 2023, in the Pinckard Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Chris Woodall and Pastor Bill Mansfield officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Holman-Headland Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Providence Christian School Football Program, c/o Brittany McKibben, 4847 Murphy Mill Road, Dothan, AL 36303.
Tom Borland was a lifelong resident of Pinckard, son of the late Thomas Merlyn Borland, Jr. and Carrie Brantley Borland. He was a 1965 graduate of Dale County High School and attended Wallace Community College. Tom served his country in the Alabama Army National Guard. He was engaged in farming all his adult lifetime. Tom was a member of Pinckard Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching his grandson play football at Providence Christian School.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Emma Curry Borland, a son Thomas Merlyn Borland, IV (Jennifer), a grandson, Thomas Merlyn “Tom” Borland, V, all of Pinckard; a very special friend, David Jones; special cousins, Ann Borland, Sue Sellers, Linda Lott (Thom), Mac Borland, Jr. (Delane), Brad Hollingsworth (Mary Jane), Thom Hollingsworth (Sharlee), Jane Echols (Michael), and Bob Palmer; sisters in law and brothers in law from the Curry family, Dorothy and Mickey Fletcher, Faye and Donald Shipes, and Hilldarose and David Ray and other nieces, nephews and cousins.
