DOTHAN…Thomas Monroe Ethridge, a resident of Dothan, died Thursday morning, July 21, 2016, at his home. He was 82.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 23, 2016, in the Kinsey Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Douglas officiating and a eulogy to be given by Jason Harris. Graveside services will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan, with Reverend Brad Hardy officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:00 P.M. Friday in the Kinsey Baptist Church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Kinsey Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 6745 Walden Drive, Kinsey, Alabama 36303.
Mr. Ethridge, son of the late Charles Alonzo Ethridge and Mattie Lou McArdle Ethridge, was a native of Kinsey, having lived most of his lifetime in Dothan. He was a 1953 graduate of Newville High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and also served in the Army National Guard. Mr. Ethridge was employed by Jimmy’s Heating & Cooling for the past twenty-five years and in earlier years was employed by Thomley’s Inc. as a sheet metal mechanic. He was a member of the Kinsey Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Ethridge was an avid Crimson Tide fan, enjoyed gardening and working in his yards and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Willodine Stokes and Charlie Nell Rogers and two brothers, Orlan Ethridge and James Ethridge.
Surviving relatives include his wife of fifty-two years, Annice Peacock Ethridge, Dothan; two daughters, Cindy Capps (David), Ashford and Sylvia Douglas (Michael), Kinsey; five sisters, Ava Reneau, Kinsey; Betty McNab, Valparaiso, FL; Doris Owens, Headland; Nina Rabe, Kinsey; Myra Scruggs (Kenneth), Pensacola, FL; two grandchildren, Reid Capps and Kaylee Douglas; one great-grandchild, Bryson Howell; numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be David Capps, Reid Capps, Ronnie Peacock, Daniel Rich, Ray Ethridge and Mark Schwarz. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of the Kinsey Baptist Church and the Joe Doswell & Oree Hardy Sunday School Class.
