SHORTERVILLE...Thomas Oliver “Pete” Hutto, a lifelong resident of Shorterville, died Monday morning, February 4, 2019, at his home. He was 91.


     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 7, 2019, in the Lakeside Christian Fellowship Church with Reverend Mickey Skinner officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Lakeside Christian Fellowship Cemetery.  Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of the arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary.


     Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Lakeside Christian Fellowship Church, P.O. Box 218, Abbeville, AL 36310.


     Mr. Hutto was born and reared in Henry County, near Shorterville, son of the late William Thomas Hutto and Sarah Jane Money Hutto. He served his country in the United States Army and was a Veteran of World War II. Mr. Hutto retired from the Clay County Hospital in Ft. Gaines, Georgia, as a Maintenance Supervisor. In earlier years, he was employed by the Henry County Hospital in Abbeville. Mr. Hutto was a member of the Lakeside Christian Fellowship Church. He was an avid photographer and had a love for adventure and travel. He always encouraged his children to seek education and be the best they could be. Mr. Hutto was preceded in death by a sister, Lucious Tillis, and five brothers, Buddy Hutto, Victor Hutto, Bernard Hutto, Henry Hutto and Lamar Hutto.


     Surviving relatives includes his wife, Elizabeth Bowles “Bobbie” Hutto; two daughters, Carol Hutto Gilmer (Heyward Carroll), Ozark; Becky Skinner (Mickey), Shorterville; a son, William “Bill” Hutto (Robbie Linn), Fredericksburg, VA; six grandchildren, Melanie Skelton (Brian), Chris Gilmer (Angela), Stephanie Alligood (Tim), Bethany Skinner, Heather Hutto Meredith (Seth) and Billy Hutto; six great-grandchildren, Alec, Parker, Savannah, Natalie, Jacob and Tyler.


     Serving as active pallbearers will be the grandchildren.
