Thomas S. Brown, 81, of Pansey, AL went to be with the Lord Friday, August 15, 2014 at his residence.

Funeral services will be 4 pm Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. C.M. Coley Holloway, Rev. Billy Nolen, and Rev. James Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Brown was born December 19, 1932 in Pansey, Alabama and lived the early part of his life there. He joined the U.S. Navy and served for 22 years retiring in 1973. He later returned to school at Troy State University and received his B.S. Degree in Education. He moved back to Pansey in 1975 where he has lived since enjoying spending time repairing and refinishing antique furniture. Mr. Brown was a Mason and a member of Liberty Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was also a member of the Dothan Chapter of OES. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Jefferson and Mamie Etheredge Brown and brothers, O.L. Brown and James Brown.

Survivors include his wife Shirley Sasser Brown; his daughter Susan Brown (Mike) Hester; step-grandchildren, Laura Hester Walker and Hollie Hester (Trent) Stringfellow; 5 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Emmy Granger and Eva Freeman; nieces, Brenda (B.J.) Dean, Beverly (Robert) Hinson, and Judy (Ron) Heilig and a nephew, Bill (Wanda) Godwin.

The family would like to express a very special thank you to the following for their loving care and support shown to the family during Tom's recent illness: Sharla Godwin, Wanda Godwin, Audrey Skoglund, Donnie and Cindy Mitchell and all of the Alacare Nursing Staff.
