Thomas John Woodward, known to friends and family as Tom, lived a life as vibrant and robust as the classic rock anthems he loved. Born on June 12, 1965, in the heart of Minnesota, Tom’s journey on earth came to a peaceful end on November 28, 2023, at UAB in Birmingham, Alabama, after an extended illness. His life was a melody of laughter, love, and the kind of honesty that could only be described as refreshingly blunt.

Tom was a man of many passions, a true Renaissance man in a leather jacket and Harley boots. He could be found in the quiet hours of the morning, bow in hand, waiting for the perfect deer, or casting a line into a still lake, lost in the serenity of fishing. His love for reading was only matched by his enthusiasm for collecting baseball cards, a hobby that often reminded him of the simple joys of childhood.

A die-hard FSU Football fan, Tom bled garnet and gold. He could recount every play, every touchdown, and, if you were lucky, he’d tell you about them with the excitement of a commentator during the final seconds of a tied game. Hockey games were no different, as he cheered and hollered, living and breathing every moment on the ice.

But beyond the sports and the hobbies, Tom’s greatest love was his family. He was a family man through and through, a sentiment echoed by the laughter of his grandbabies whom he adored more than words could express. After the loss of his first wife, Tom reconnected with his grammar school sweetheart, finding a love with her like the story from "The Notebook."

Tom’s work ethic was as strong as his spirit. His time in the Army had instilled in him a sense of duty and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. He was a man who stood by his word, a trait that earned him the respect and admiration of those who knew him. His honesty was as legendary as his sense of humor—if you didn’t want the truth, you learned quickly not to ask Tom.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Tonya Woodward, and his sister, Suzie Woodward.

The legacy of his generous heart and gentle spirit is carried on by his loving wife, Laura Woodward, and his children, Justin Woodward (Alison) and Jessica Campany (Michael). His grandchildren, Nathan Woodward, Lucas Woodward, Rylan Campany, and Silas Campany, will grow up with stories of their granddad’s adventures and his boundless love. Tom is also survived by his parents, Mike and Joanne Woodward; his siblings, Shelly Oie (Matt), Maria Holloway (Andy), and Joe Woodward (Nicole); his special sister-in-law, Gayla Kramer; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members who were touched by his kindness.

Tom was a Christian, a man of faith who walked the walk and talked the talk—usually with a punchline or a wry smile. He lived his life as a testament to the values he held dear: love, generosity, and the kind of gentle strength that doesn’t need to boast.

Thomas John Woodward left this world much like a classic rock solo—resonating long after the last note has faded, leaving us all with memories that will continue to inspire, comfort, and bring a smile to our faces. He was a man who lived, loved, and left a legacy of laughter and honesty. Rock on, Tom. Your encore will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing you.
