TUMBLETON COMMUNITY. . .Timothy Alan “Tim” Masters, a resident of the Tumbleton Community of Henry County, died late Saturday morning, August 7, 2021. He was 68.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Tim Masters was born in Dothan and was reared in Atlanta and Tumbleton, son of the late Ferron W. Masters and Jolaine Shelley Masters. He was a 1971 graduate of Headland High School and received a B.S. Degree in Art and History from Troy University. Tim was retired as an Instrument Technician and was employed by several nuclear, coal, and gas plants. In earlier years, he was employed by Westinghouse. Tim was a member of the Tolbert Baptist Church. A skilled artist, specializing in landscape art, he painted for his friends, family, and sold his art throughout the Wiregrass area. He enjoyed bluegrass music and was an accomplished fiddle player. Tim also played the guitar, harmonica, the banjo and the mandolin. He earned his Black Belt in the Isshin-ryu School of Karate. He enjoyed archery and handcrafted his own archery equipment to include the bow, arrow tips and fletching. Over the years, Tim built two log cabins and several boats. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Sue Kelly Oliver.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Livy Kelly Masters; a daughter, Eve Masters Thompson (John Payne), and a son, Joseph Masters, two brothers, Steve Masters (Carol), Fredericksburg, VA; and Richard Masters, Dothan; three grandchildren, Timothy Thompson, Monty Masters and Susie Payne; a brother-in-law, Darwin P. Kelly, Jr. (Myra); two nieces, Amanda Gray and Allison Kingston and a nephew, Ryan Masters; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
