ABBEVILLE. . .Timothy “Dock” Davis, a resident of Abbeville, passed away late Wednesday night, February 7, 2024, at his home. He was 68.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, February 11, 2024, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Perry F. Mobley, III officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Sam Davis officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vintage Christian Church, 1505 Hartford Highway, Dothan, AL 36301.


            Tim Davis was born and reared in Henry County and attended Abbeville High School. He also attended Wallace College Sparks Campus where he received a certificate as a welder. Tim was employed by SunSouth for over forty four years as a welder and irrigation specialist and also worked on farm equipment. He worked for over twenty years at the Henry County Gin hauling cotton. Tim served on the Abbeville Recreation Board for over twenty years and served as Grand Marshall for Youth Day. He formerly coached softball and baseball in the Abbeville City League for many years. Tim was an avid fisherman, deer hunter, and enjoyed NASCAR and Alabama football. He was a member of Vintage Christian Church in Dothan. Tim was preceded in death by his father, Dock Davis, his mother, Maudie Pearl Cook “Miss Bob” Davis, a sister, Cathy Davis, a brother-in-law, Paul Byrne and his father in law, Jessie T. Hancock.  


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Denise Byrne Davis, two daughters, Nicole Davis and Brooke Davis, all of Abbeville; a son, Pastor Sam Davis (Deonne), Dothan; a sister, Terry Davis (John Danford); grandchildren, Madison Vines, Mason Vines and Maddox Davis; a niece, Kellie Dingus (Jon), his mother-in-law, Gisela “Granny” Hancock, two great-nieces, Ella and Sarah Grace.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Michael DeShazo, Todd Ward, David Key, Pete Barnes, Keith Holmes and John Blankenship. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Gary Scott, Aaron Dansby, Ira Skipper, Kenneth Lott and Tommy Mims.


            The family would like to express their appreciation to the Shepherd Center of Atlanta, Gentiva Home Health and Gentiva Hospice for loving care and kindness shown to Tim after his hunting accident which occurred January 19, 2020.
