SKIPPERVILLE. . .Timothy Harold Galloway, (Maj., USAF, Ret.), a resident of the Bertha Community of Dale County, passed away May 29, 2016, after a long battle with cancer. He was 55.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 2, 2016, in the New Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Ben Amlong and Reverend Judson Waldrop officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday in the sanctuary of the New Hope Baptist Church and also from 9:00 until 10:00 A.M. Thursday in the church.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society- Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge, 1104 Ireland Way, Birmingham, AL 35205.
Ann and Lamar Galloway welcomed Timothy into their lives on December 3, 1960. At a very early age, Tim’s dream was to fly. He received his private pilot’s license in 1977 at the age of 17. After finishing high school and graduating from Troy State University, Tim was commissioned as 2nd Lt. of the U. S. Air Force and received his Aviator Wings on July 19, 1985. He flew combat missions during Operation Desert Storm in 1990-1991 and was assigned the call-sign of “Rackman.” After separation from active duty, Tim flew C-130 Hercules aircraft with the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron as a Hurricane Hunter. Tim retired from the U. S. Air Force Reserves on July 31, 2005, with the rank of Major. For the last 21 years, Tim was employed as a pilot with Federal Express.
Tim was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, J. D. and Erma Martin and his paternal grandparents, Fred and Mattie Galloway. Tim loved his family and is survived by his beloved wife and soul mate, Timberly (Mimi) Webb Galloway, his daughters, Alycia Galloway Frazier, Auburn, AL; and Cara Galloway Snyder (Captain Charles Snyder, U.S. Army), Ft. Polk, LA; and his son, Orin Galloway (Cassie), Bertha Community; his father and mother, Lamar and Ann Galloway, Bertha Community; and his beloved grandchildren, David and Kinley Snyder and Lyla Frazier. He is also survived by three aunts, Manonia Snell (Jessie), Janette Smith (Kenneth), and Nancy Gast (Doug); two cousins, Anthony Smith (Glenda), and Brandi Rogers (Chad Goolbis); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from the Webb family, Patricia and Ron Donahue, Richard E. and Charisse Webb, and Mickey Webb; and a host of other family and friends.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Andy Smith, Chuck Barefield, John Barefield, Keith Covington, Mark Blankenship, Keith Grantham, Bucky Lane, and Houston Davis. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dan Barefield, Sam Covington, Brent Barefield, and Dave Nazarek.
