Tina Elizabeth Messick, known to all as Tina, was born in Michigan on April 15, 1962, and spent her life spreading joy and laughter to everyone she met. After a life of love, laughter, and an unhealthy obsession with Diet Coke, she passed away on July 30, 2023, in Dothan, Alabama, following a long, drawn-out argument with an extended illness that she eventually let win, because, let’s face it, she was always one to let others have their way sometimes.
Tina’s brother, Adam Weldon, and granddaughter, Penelope Wheeler, who preceded her in passing, along with her parents, Ronald and Marsha Weldon, are undoubtedly rejoicing at their heavenly reunion.
Surviving Tina are her loving children, Misty (Mike) Wheeler, Jeff (Heather) Mims, and Christina Weldon, who are all still trying to figure out how she managed to crochet a quilt while drinking a Diet Coke and reeling in a 10-pound bass. Tina’s grandchildren, Justin Willbanks, Aaron Mims, Gunnar Mims, Renesmee Weldon, Sebastian Wheeler, and Dawson Wheeler will miss their grandma’s infectious laughter and her ability to turn any ordinary day into an adventure.
Tina’s sister and best friend, Lisa (Richard) Hill, will miss their long chats, often interrupted by fits of laughter and impromptu crafting sessions. Her brother, Joseph Weldon, along with several nieces, nephews, and other family members, will miss Tina’s easygoing nature and her ability to make everyone feel loved and cherished.
Tina’s life was a rich tapestry of love, laughter, and Diet Coke breaks. She attended Headland High School, she found her calling as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was an expert at making people feel comfortable, often cracking jokes that could make even the grumpiest patient laugh out loud. And if laughter is the best medicine, then Tina was surely the best doctor in town!
Tina’s hobbies included crafting, quilting, sewing, crocheting, and fishing. She had a knack for turning just about anything into a work of art. Her family and friends were her world. She was a woman of strong faith and was as easygoing as a Sunday morning. She was simple, easy to love, and had a will stronger than a two-dollar steak. Her love for her family was only rivaled by her love for Diet Coke, a passion she pursued with unyielding dedication and fervor.
Tina was the embodiment of love, faith, and thoughtfulness, with a dash of stubbornness thrown in for good measure. Her laughter was infectious, her spirit was indomitable, and her love was boundless. She had a knack for making everyone feel special, and she could turn a frown into a smile.
In closing, Tina would want us to remember her with laughter, not tears. To remember the joy she brought into our lives, the love she had for her family and friends, and the laughter that was her signature tune. So, let’s raise a glass (preferably filled with Diet Coke) to Tina, a woman who lived her life with love, laughter, and an unyielding faith. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the laughter and love she left behind.
