TOM SEEKS
HEADLAND, AL… Tom Seeks, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 16, 2023, after a short battle with liver cancer. He was 68.
Mr. Seeks was born in Hawthorne, California to the late Nell Hinton Steinhelper and Thomas L. Steinhelper. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister, Libby Steinhelper and his grandmother, Nell Duffie Hinton.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Dianne Slattery Seeks; his brother-in-law Pat Slattery, Sr. (Carol) of Florida; his nephews, Pat Slattery, Jr. of Florida, and Keith Slattery (Gloria) of Arizona along with his cousins, Polly Seymour, Chuck McCollum, Allan McCollum, and Maryann Maya Muse.
Raised by his mother & grandmother in Redondo Beach, CA, Tom attended Aviation High School. He taught himself how to play guitar, surf and build motorcycles. Tom became a welder by trade, but his passion was always making & writing music. He was particularly drawn to the Blues and Southern Rock, and for many years followed the Allman Brothers Band around America, attending various concerts, gaining many lifelong friends along the way. Tom’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and all those who knew the pleasure of his own music and his unique sense of humor.
Tom’s second love, after his “Good Wife” Dianne, was riding Harley’s. This is where the wind, sun and freedom all united to lift up his spirit. He was proud to say in his 40 years of riding, he never ’laid a bike down’. “Freedom” was the one word he chose to describe himself, and his love for freedom was as equally ingrained in his soul as as his steadfast support for upholding the US Constitution.
He attended Bethlehem Baptist Church and Webb Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life will be announced in the coming weeks.
