Mr. Travis Doyle Slaughter of Dothan, Alabama, formerly of Geneva, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2015, after a short illness. He was 65.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2015, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Dewayne Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, January 25, from 2 until 4 p.m.
Doyle was born July 31, 1949, in Geneva County, Alabama. For several years, Doyle worked as a weaving technician for Geneva Cotton Mills and during his tenure in the textile industry he was promoted to shift supervisor with Fabrics America/Clinton Mills. His last employment was with Perdue Farms where he worked as a garage mechanic. Doyle had a very kind and loving spirit and was very devoted to his family. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his friends. Doyle was a member of the Mt. Sinai Holiness Tabernacle in Dothan.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Slaughter, and a brother, James Slaughter.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Val Miller Slaughter of Dothan; mother, Lois Heath of Geneva; one sister, Dana (Pete) Carter, Coffee Springs; other extended family and friends.
