TROY D. (BILL) MARTIN, JR.
MIDLAND CITY. . .Troy D. (Bill) Martin, Jr., a resident of Midland City, died Monday morning, February 6, 2012, in a Dothan hospital. He was 45.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 8, 2012, in the Sanctuary of Praise with Pastor Ricky Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Midland City Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A. M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.
Bill Martin was born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, son of the late Troy Don William Martin, Sr. and Mary Katherine Casteel Martin. He lived in Glendale, Kentucky before moving to Midland City in 1981. Bill co-owned and operated Knothole Barbeque in Midland City. In earlier years, he was employed by the City of Midland City and in the parking lot maintenance business. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Andrew Martin.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Janice Chandler; a step-daughter, Jan Buckelew (Todd), Midland City; six step-sons, Randy Whitehead, Dothan; Jeffery Gustafson (Kaylee), Kevin, Christopher, Joshua and Kyle Gustafson, all of Midland City; and two other step-sons whom Bill helped to raise, Joey and Eric Turner; a sister, Melissa Smith (Tony), Midland City; a brother, Ron Martin, Grimes; three grandchildren, Tristin and Allie Buckelew and Lane Gustafson.
Bill will be loved and missed by family and friends.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Delb Chandler, Bert Chandler, Kevin Gustafson, Tyler Buchanan, Dustin Clarke and Ryan Allen.
