TSGT James Emmitt Dent (United States Air Force, Retired), a resident of Wicksburg, passed away Monday morning, January 2, 2023, at his home. He was 92 years old.
A memorial service for TSGT Dent will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 10, 2023, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark, Holman Funeral Home directing.
TSGT Dent was born October 21, 1930 in Imboden, Arkansas to the late Augusta Emmitt Dent and Virginia Dare Macon Dent. He served in the United States Air Force for over twenty years until his retirement. He was fascinated with aviation all of his life, building his first plane when he was fourteen years old out of an apple crate. Continuing to build several planes over his life time.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Dent; two daughters, Jeannie Dent and Jessica Dent; one great grandchild, Cameron Murray; three sisters and one brother.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Vroman Dent of Newton; his children, Jolene Johnson (Phillip) of Dothan, James E. Dent Jr. (Sue) of Gladstone, Missouri, Jon Dent (Kathy) of Newton, Perry Dent of Newton, Tina Nelson (Thomas) of Dothan; grandchildren, Jacque Dunda, James Dent, Erica Larsen, Sarah Andrews, Kecia Dent, Jenna Adaway and Amy Meuli; sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Attn; Tribute Department, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
