Twyla Joell James

Twyla Joell James, age 37, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 11, 2021 following an act of domestic violence.  Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021 at  2pm in the Family First Funeral Care chapel with visitation Friday September 17, 2021 from 5-7 pm at Family First Funeral Care Chapel.

She was born on July 28th 1984 to Dennis Ray James and Elizabeth LeMay James and resided for most of her life in Dothan Alabama.
After graduating from Dothan High School in 2002, she served in various roles within the community ranging from food service, patient care, corrections officer, security officer, advertising, and marketing specialist. When not working, She took time to enjoy her passion of photography and wedding planning.
She was many things—a devoted Christian, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and loyal friend--she loved her family, friends, pets, and never passed the opportunity to help a friend in need. Her biggest dream was to be a mom and while she never got the chance to hold a sweet baby of her own, she took every opportunity she could to spoil her nieces and nephews as only an aunt “La-La” could do.
Twyla is survived by two sisters Celia Anderson (Chris), Stephanie Dey (Justin), two brothers Kevin James (Levi), Steven James; Aunt Connie Harding (Blake), Aunt Sheila James; four nieces, Cara Anderson, Adalyn James, Cassandra Anderson, Ryland Dey; three nephews, Jaydon James, Dennis Dey, Colton Dey; honorary mother Penny Farmer; honorary fathers Arnold Moreno, Robert Farmer; honorary siblings, Kelsey Bell, Deanna Adkins, Stephanie Karpovich, Meghon Moreno, Crystal Andrews, Meagan Traylor, Kim Smith, and C.J. Powell; Cousins Chris LeMay, Blake LeMay, Miels LeMay; Taylor Harding; special friends Ricky Webb, Blake James; and grandmother Celia Walker. Twyla was preceded in death by her parents, and niece Nevaeh Anderson.
The family would like to say thank you to each and every person who has reached out with words of love and encouragement through this difficult time. A special request has been made that attendees wear purple in honor of Twylas’ favorite color and to help bring awareness to domestic violence. ONE VICTIM IS ONE TO MANY.
