Valerie Nidowicz Dykes

Valerie Nidowicz Dykes, known affectionately as Valerie, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 73. Born on May 2, 1951, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Valerie was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her life, touching the hearts of everyone she met with her gentle spirit.

Valerie was the cherished daughter of the late Joe and Ellen Nidowicz and was lovingly guided by her grandparents, Michael and Elizabeth Cerria and John and Helen Nidowicz, all of whom predeceased her. She was a beloved mother to her daughter, Melissa Lombardo, and a devoted partner to Steve Mangel. Valerie's legacy of love continues through her grandchildren, Austin and Johnathan, and her great-grandchildren, Brayden, Rowan, Raelyn, and River. She was a dear sister to Joe, Arlene "Sissy," and Diane, and is preceded in death by her sister, Doreene. Her large family extended to many loving nieces and nephews, as well as her two adored cats and her loyal dog, LT.

Valerie's early education was at Dickenson High School, followed by the Catherine Gibbs School. She dedicated her life to creating a warm and welcoming home, embodying the true essence of a homemaker. Her home was not just a place of residence, but a sanctuary filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories for all who entered.

Residing in Mariana, Florida, Valerie found solace in her Catholic faith, which was a guiding light throughout her life. She had an affinity for the beach, where the rhythm of the waves brought her peace and the warmth of the sun matched the warmth in her heart. Valerie had an appreciation for the beauty of nature, often found tending to her vibrant garden, and could be mesmerized for hours by the delicate dance of hummingbirds.

Valerie was the epitome of loving, kind, and gentle. Her presence was a comforting embrace to those in need, and her selfless nature was evident in every aspect of her life. She nurtured her relationships with the same care and attention she gave to her beloved flowers, always ensuring that those around her felt loved and supported.

While Valerie's physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her influence was profound, and the lessons of compassion and kindness she imparted will resonate for generations to come.

Valerie's life was a testament to the power of love and the beauty of a life well-lived. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy of love will continue to bloom in the lives of those she touched.

Valerie's passing is a reminder to all of us to cherish the simple joys of life, to nurture the bonds of family and friendship, and to spread kindness in the world, just as she did. Let us honor her memory by living our lives with the same grace and generosity that she so effortlessly displayed.

The family wishes to express their profound gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time of loss. Valerie's memory will be forever cherished, and her light will never fade. As we bid farewell to Valerie Nidowicz Dykes, we do so with the knowledge that her spirit will forever be a guiding star in the lives of those she loved.
