AUBURN, ALABAMA. . .Vann Scott Owens, a resident of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on February 15, 2018, at his home. He was 64.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, February 17, 2018, in the Columbia City Cemetery, Columbia, Alabama.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday, February 19, 2018, in the Church of the Highlands, Grants Mill Campus, 4700 Highlands Way, Birmingham. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 P.M. Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the “Auburn Water Ski Club”, c/o Auburn University Club Sports, Attn: Auburn Water Ski Club, 601 Heisman Drive, Auburn, AL 36849 or to donate online, go to http://www.auburn.edu/give and click “Other”, then specify Water Ski Club.
Vann was born in Columbia, Alabama but spent most of his lifetime in Birmingham. He lived each day to the fullest and loved life and didn’t waste a minute. Vann loved people and loved being with people. His greatest loves were his family, Auburn sports, water skiing, and golf. He was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church and the Church of the Highlands, Auburn Campus. Vann was preceded in death by his parents, Whit and Eula Owens.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Laneyl; children, Bobby Cornelius and Claire Owens; and beloved Aunt, Peggy Sykes and cousin, Hasting Sykes.
